Don has 37 years of experience in building and development. With the formation of his own company in 1977, he began his construction/development career in Central California. In 1985, he formed a new partnership, Heritage Companies, subsequently developing large tracts of land and building multiple subdivisions concurrently in several regions, encompassing thousands of homes, apartments, medical offices, and commercial properties throughout California, Colorado and Nevada. Under his leadership as president, the company was listed in the top 100 builders in volume of sales in California in 1986. A few years later, he formed his own company NewCity Corporation, and by 1990, the company was ranked 285 nationally on the Professional Builder magazine’s Top Builders in America list for total sales volume. He also served two years as chairman of the Building Industry Association’s PAC, coordinating industry political activities. Later in his career in the mid 2000’s, Don saw the burgeoning market for aging boomers on the horizon, and began to study the trends of the Assisted Living and Memory Care business with industry stalwarts, such as leading senior industry marketing researcher Promatura principal Bernie Smith, and award winning Senior Care industry architect Greg Irwin, which led him into developing successful Assisted Living projects.
